A Leader in Community and Labor
Dennis L. Martire, vice president and mid-Atlantic regional manager of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), is more than a union leader—he’s a community advocate. Since 2002, his elected role has allowed him to represent LIUNA on numerous boards, strengthening both workers and the mid-Atlantic region.
A Career of Service
Martire’s journey began in 1990 as an international representative, following his graduation from West Virginia Wesleyan College. A member of Local Union #1058 in Pittsburgh, he advanced to assistant director, director of the construction department, and assistant regional manager before his current role. His career reflects a commitment to community-driven labor advocacy.
Board Leadership
As chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Laborers’ Employees Cooperation and Education Trust and other coalitions, Martire shapes policies that benefit workers. His trustee roles on boards like the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority ensure LIUNA’s voice in regional development.
Community Impact
Martire’s work extends to policy wins, such as fair wage laws in Maryland, and union victories, like the Route 495 project in Virginia. His training programs further empower workers, fostering community growth.
A Regional Anchor
Residing in northern Virginia, Martire’s community leadership continues to uplift laborers and strengthen the region’s labor movement.
