Dennis L. Martire: A Pillar of LIUNA’s Success

Dennis L. Martire’s name is synonymous with labor union advocacy in the Mid-Atlantic. Since joining the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) in 1990, Martire has built a legacy of leadership, culminating in his role as Vice President and Regional Manager since 2002.

Building a Career in Labor Rights

Martire’s career began after earning a Bachelor of Science in Government from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1986. Starting as an International Representative for LIUNA’s jurisdictional disputes department, he advanced to Assistant Director, then Director of the construction department. By 2000, he was Assistant Regional Manager, and in 2002, he took on his current role. A member of Labor Union #1058, Martire’s personal connection to labor fuels his dedication.

Driving Union Success

Martire’s leadership has led to transformative achievements, including the unionization of workers on the Route 495 hot lanes project in Virginia. He has also secured fair wages for laborers in Maryland and oversees LIUNA’s training programs. His influence extends to roles on boards like the National Maintenance Agreement Policy Committee, ensuring labor issues remain at the forefront.
